Regenerative Medicine Minnesota (RMM) is proud to announce that applications are now open for new grant opportunities in Education Programs, Biotechnology/Biobusiness, and Clinical Care. Prospective applicants can click here to download materials with further instructions on how to complete and submit proposals. RMM will accept grant applications between Jan. 4 and March 4, 2016. Funding is available for the following types of grants:
- Education: Minnesota-based educational programs that 1) improve student knowledge in the foundations of regenerative medicine, including, but not limited to, animal cell biology and/or regeneration, stem cell biology, laboratory medicine, and bioengineering, and 2) interest, train, or retain non-traditional students in careers related to regenerative medicine and science, especially from underrepresented, rural, or returning veteran populations. Grants will be considered for education programs for students as young as the third grade to post-doctoral scholars. Examples of educational programs that were funded last year can be found here.
- Biotechnology/Biobusiness: Businesses and organizations in Minnesota that are working on regenerative medicine products, devices, and services. Projects may include, but are not limited to, non-expendable research equipment, infrastructure development, device testing, increasing the capacity of existing services, and implementing Quality Management Systems and Good Manufacturing Practice standards. Examples of biotechnology/biobusiness grant awardees from last year can be found here.
- Clinical Care: Funding is available for individuals and organizations in Minnesota, including, but not limited to, healthcare providers, community-based healthcare organizations, veteran’s organizations, social workers, and patient advocacy groups. Projects should benefit patients by creating or updating access to regenerative medicine.
Since the Minnesota Legislature allocated resources to fund this program in 2014, RMM has been working to improve the health of Minnesotans by advancing regenerative medicine therapies. Grants have been awarded to accelerate medical research, to develop biotechnology and biobusiness, and to recruit, train, and retain the next generation of healthcare workers and researchers in the field of regenerative medicine.
